  1. Wikipedia was founded in 2001 by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger.
  2. The name Wikipedia comes from "wiki" meaning shared website and" pedia", a shortened version of encyclopedia. 
  3. 260 languages are supported by Wikipedia. 
  4. Bad weather leads to more Wikipedia updates. That is why the Dutch Wikipedia has more entries than  Spain's Wikipedia. 
  5. There are no ads on Wikipedia.
  6. Members of the Wikipedia community are referred to as Wikipedians. But anybody can edit on Wikipedia. 
  7. Wikipedia's mission is to make all of the information available in the world in every language.
  8. The English language has more than 3 million articles available followed by German - 1.08 milion and French - 958,000..
  9. Wikipedia generates approximately 684 million page views/year. 
  10. There is no censorship on Wikipedia, but it must meet certain guidelines - Encyclopedic, Neutral and Verifiable.
