We love social business.  We love the power social media has to bring together friends, colleagues, mentors, and causes.   Unfortunately anything that has the power to do good can be easily exploited by those with ulterior motives.  We will not use this blog to discuss the criminality of social media.  Thankfully we have a legal system for those that use it to bully or organize mobs to commit crimes.

For the last 10 weeks my son has been in a school starters programme. While he is a "normal" child who just has to learn to sit still and chose which hand to hold his pencil (he's ambidextrous), many of the children have serious problems.

The children's disabilities ranged between:
* MS
* Autism
* Cerebral Palsy

It was a huge wake up call for me as a designer.  The school starters programme with it 100 children is publicly funded. Places were highly fought over. It was one of 50 running in Sydney, with many more privately funded groups of similar nature.

So I was unable to attend the conference but I've gotten a few emails interested in how I setup landing pages on Engage.reading.org (our social networking site).  This is a step by step tutorial on creating a 'blank template' that you can drop your own HTML elements or HL's UserControls into any shape you want.
