Web Controls

The functional pages in our system are actually made up of a bunch of smaller pieces called web user controls or web parts.  These web controls are often themselves made up of smaller web controls with more specific functionality. All in all, the system has over 400 controls!

Web Controls Demo

The following lists and demonstrates the local (user controls) and remote (webservices) web user controls that are currently available for use with Higher Logic's Connected Community suite.

To use the user controls locally, when you create a microsite page, simple select "User Control" as the content type and add the control name i.e. ws:Blogs and then add any parameters to the line below which will change the look/feel of the control.

There is a web service underlying each control that provides data from the Higher Logic system and these web services can be called from directly from third party systems written in any programming language/environment. The webservice URL is the URL for your community followed by /HigherLogic/[webservice name]. Using HUG as an example, the Directory web service can be found at http://hug.higherlogic.com/HigherLogic/DirectoryWebService.asmx
