Today, most user activity happens through discussions. Most user-created library entries are attachments to a discussion post. Enhancements happen across the codebase but we never lose sight of the Discussions product. So, even the Volunteer Manager overhaul did not keep us from making exciting enhancements to Discussions
You can easily adjust the display size of all posts and replies in all discussions using the following rule in your theme's custom CSS
1 Comment - Is there a way for the user to change font sizes when writing/editing a discussion post? It seems oddly left out - I don't think I've ever seen a WYSIWYG editor with no font size control

Best Answer for Discussions documentation A number of clients have asked for functionality to help a user find the highest-value post within a long Discussion thread. That is now possible with the addition of best answer functionality for Discussion. You can see a good example of the functionality and the business need it supports with this Discussion string on the Heartbleed bug (a bug that did not impact Higher Logic sites, by the way)
3 Comments - It is not a function of recommendations, and best answer buttons are not included in Discussion email. We won’t be making any changes to this functionality in the near future
There seems to be a new rule in the standard HL CSS file that sets the max-width of all images within discussion posts to 400px

The Construction Financial Management Association is taking advantage of two great features on the CFMA Connection Café, its community site: polls and discussion groups. Most members probably consider responding to a poll as a one-time action. The same may be said for a certain discussion thread—they offer up their question or advice and perhaps let others take the lead. But CFMA’s Connection Café combined these actions to encourage even better engagement with their “Question of the Month” polls connected directly to popular discussions. The most vibrant discussion groups have great content and even better “Best Answers.”

Here are a few ideas of content items to promote on your newsletter to drive traffic back to your community site: 1) Most viewed and popular discussion groups. Link to the hot topic issues of the month that triggered the most threads and substantive conversation. Pull the report from Reports > Discussions > Discussion Activity to see the discussion that yielded the highest replies. 2) Most viewed, recommended, and downloaded resource libraries
