Hi, all - this is a question we get pretty regularly, so I just wanted to share some insight. If you're using Google Webmaster Tools and trying to verify your community site, here's the best quick-and-dirty way to do it:

  1. Log in to your Google Webmasters Tools account
  2. Go to your Search Console and select the site you'd like to verify
  3. Choose the HTML Tag option under the Verification Options section and copy the meta tag Google generates for you (I would recommend keeping this tab open, as you'll need it again in a moment):

  4. Log into your community site and go to CCAdmin > Tools > Custom CSS/JS/Meta
  5. Paste your meta tag into the Custom Meta Tags section, here:

  6. Click the blue Save button at the bottom of the page
  7. Return to your Google Webmaster Tools account and click the red Verify button:

After that, you should be all set!

Can you create an updated version of this that addresses adding a Google Webmaster tools verification for microsites that have their own domain?
