HUG Member Spotlight - December 2021

Meet @Debbie Segor, our HUG Member Spotlight for December!

Debbie is the Marketing & Communications Manager for The American Society for Nondestructive Testing. In her own words, she "lives" in Real Magnet every day.

I asked Debbie a few questions about her experiences, which I'm sharing below so you can get to know her a little better. If you have any questions for Debbie, or just liked something about her story, please comment below!

Please tell us a little bit about your role within The American Society for Nondestructive Testing!

It is not hyperbole to say that I live in HL Real Magnet for the majority of my day. I send out 90% of our emails for our association, so all of my time is spent in Real Magnet. I consider myself an above-average user but love to learn new things from my other colleagues who use RM or from the Beth and Viv Show.

We send out emails to a variety of audiences nearly every day. I also am responsible for our social media and a variety of other marketing projects.

I'd like to thank my colleague, @Patricia White, for all her help. She's also a super user when it comes to Real Magnet, and I find it helpful to have a colleague to work with who is so knowledgeable.

What is your biggest career highlight to date?

I recently earned my Certified Association Executive certification from the American Society of Association Executives!

What advice would you give to someone who is new to using Higher Logic's products?

Attend all of the webinars offered by Higher Logic, attend the Beth and Viv Show (officially known as HUG Connect for Marketing), and dive into any training that is offered.

What do you like most about the Higher Logic product you're using?

Real Magnet has vastly improved ASNT’s ability to communicate to our audience. We’ve been able to create more creative and vibrant emails to engage with our audience, which includes members and non-members alike. Since most people are inundated with emails, having the ability to develop more creative emails has been so helpful to us.

Okay, enough work stuff! Share what makes you happy (travel, hobbies, family, pets...whatever makes you smile).

I have a 4-legged co-worker Bandit who is so glad that my husband and I work from home now. I have two kids - a junior in high school and a sophomore in college. I am a huge Rolling Stones fan and floating in the ocean is my happy place. I grew up in Miami Beach, FL so when the ocean feels like bathwater...not cold....I am happy!

Congrats on the HUG Member Spotlight and thank you for sharing your story.  I especially liked your comment about re-designing emails with both member and non-members in mind.  Do you have any examples of things you've tried in the updating of your emails in either design or content that has helped your metrics?
