Micro-Celebrity

Ready
A person who is famous within a niche or industry.  In the association space these are typically thought leaders, speakers, authors, or other respected members of the community.

For example, our own Andy Steggles is a micro-celebrity within ASAE technology circles.

Micro-celebrities should be approached to be early adopters of the new community tools to get more content generated more quickly, to get others (their groupies) to participate, and to increase their own fame.  This is called a Micro-Celebrity Endorsement.

Reward and recognition programs can be used to help increase a micro-celebrity's visibility or to elevate others to micro-celebrity status.
