  • 1.  Multiple communities and multiple emails

    Posted Aug 03, 2021 12:07 AM
    Hi All,

We are just considering creating some extra forums but I don't want people who are in multiple forums to receive multiple emails.

Is there a way to make it so members only receive one email per day with  all the discussions for that day from all forums they are in on the one email.

    Thank you

    Natasha

Hey Natasha, thanks for posting in HUG your question.

Smarter people than I may very well chime in with a better response, so here is how Users are able to manage their community notifications to get a 'Consolidated Daily Digest'.

In Profile, My Account, Community Notifications:

Graphical user interface, text, application Description automatically generated

Select Consolidated Daily / Weekly Digest across each Community I am subscribed:

    Table Description automatically generated

Let's find out if this can be a default for Communities other than the Open Forum – ping @Marcus Duhon for help here and @Bree Stewart for Community Strategy advice on this.

    Good Morning Robert,

    Thank you for your reply.

It would be great it there was a way that on bulk I could make this the default for our members.

But if not this is something I could give them instructions on.

However when I look at our notifications it looks slightly different there is no option for a daily consolidated digest. Do i need to update the system?

    Thank you

    Hi @Natasha Horlin,

First you will need to activate your Consolidated Daily Digest, which instructions for can be found on this page. You can click on the 'Manage Consolidated Digest Emails' navigation link on the right hand side to bring you directly to the appropriate area on the page.

Once that is enabled, you can create automation rules to add people to a Community quite easily, and there are options near the bottom of the automation rule construction area where you can set to have them added to the consolidated daily digest (once you have that enabled)

    Hi Marcus,

Do I need to sent the automation rule as per below for each community? Will this mean that they will no longer get a daily digest for each community but will get one consolidated one?

Also if I change this will it apply the changes to all members who have previously been affected by the rule or just people who are effected in the future?

    Thank you

    Hi @Natasha Horlin,

I believe you are trying to remove everyone that is already subscribed to this community and put them on the new digest. I believe the best way to accomplish this will be via a support case as the team has internal tools they can use to assist you with this. The rule recommended above will only allow you to ensure that new people added to a community get put on the Weekly.
